The Las Vegas Massacre: From tragedy comes courage and strength

Music concerts are places where people go to have fun and listen to musicians perform their songs. Just like at sports games, fans come together from all walks of life because they share a common goal and interest.

I remember seeing Ben Rector in concert at Benedictine College, and the Celebrate Freedom 2006 concert at South Fork Ranch near Parker, Texas. They were great ways to hang out in a social environment free and take your mind off the stresses we experience in our everyday life.

The people who attended a country music concert in Las Vegas on Oct. 2 also came together in what was supposed to be a great night of singing and supporting the country music artists performing. Yet that changed when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock turned the Vegas Strip into a war zone.

During the concert, Paddock shot and killed 59 people and injured over 500 others from his 32nd-story hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. He had a stockpile of rifles and guns in his possession and took the coward's way out rather than let the police take him alive.

The Las Vegas Massacre is now the worst modern-day mass shooting in the history of the United States. There's no denying that it was inhumane. The gunman carried it out to kill innocent people.

Yet the Liberal Left is using the Las Vegas shooting for their own political agenda of more gun control and less freedom for Americans. They fail to realize that the gunmen in attacks such as Vegas, Orlando, San Bernardino and the Aurora, Colorado Massacre were either deranged individuals or had ties to Radical Islamic terrorist groups like ISIS.

The Left, including the Democratic Party, doesn't care about the people in Las Vegas who died and were injured by a sick monster. They just want more gun control by the Federal government and blame conservatives for supporting the right every American citizen has to bear arms. A top CBS lawyer even claimed the victims were Republicans because they liked country music. In her mind, the victims deserved to get shot and killed. I guess she doesn’t like Jason Aldean or Carrie Underwood. Or Paul Ryan and Donald Trump.

In contrast Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren says the victims were Americans. At least she didn't label them Republican or Democrat.

While Democrats focus on pushing for gun control and attack the Second Amendment, country music singers decided to come together in support of the victims. Stars such as Amy Grant and Keith Urban honored the victims with performances.

These county music stars use their position to help better their fellow Americans and their fans. Democrats chose to play the blame game on Republicans and gun owners.

Yet Americans have seen firsthand the accounts of unsung heroes rushing in the line of fire to save other people and their loved ones on the Las Vegas Strip. Brave police officers also put their lives at risk by responding to the scene and making sure their fellow Americans were safe.

What Las Vegas shows us is that when people come together in order to honor the victims and make a difference, they can push through anything. They, along with the first responders, are the real heroes.

We need to remember that.
